Being a mom....such a short phrase for such a big job.
This morning, I head off to the "Hearts at Home" National Conference. I will be surrounded by other Christian moms who are much like myself...normal, ordinary, simple, stressed at times, hardworking, dedicated and determined to never give up on the blessings that the Lord has given us called children.
My plea today is that you pray specifically for this conference and that the Holy Spirit would sweep through the hearts of every person there, shining a new and refreshing light on this journey of motherhood.
I wouldn't trade it for the world and I love my 6 immensely. This is my calling...to be a mom and I'm proud of it.
I have far to go and have come from much. But, my King is on the throne loving and guiding me, encouraging and supporting me through all of you and I thank you for being fellow mommies that are REAL and not fake. Too often I get discouraged by seeing all of those "perfect moms" around me that just seem to have it all together and then I remember that the Lord has blessed me with REAL friends who share their pain and struggles. Of course, we all have major joy in motherhood, but it's tough. I seriously don't know what I'd do without such a wonderful support system....thank you!
Today, I honor all of you moms- GREAT JOB LADIES! Keep up the good work. Don't lose sight of the end goal. Don't lose sight of the promises of God. Our babies will grow up too quickly and fly on their own. How we sow into God's Kingdom today will effect eternity.
I love you all!
We are MOMMIES United!!!

Landon is here!
I am proud to announce the arrival of Landon Robert Gaskin, son to my cousin/sister Kristy and her hubby Matt!
Landon made his grand arrival into the world today at 1:56 p.m. and he weighed in at 8 lbs. 2 oz. and he is 20" long. Kristy's story will make many of you ill...those of you have labored long hours or had difficult births. This is a miracle first baby story. She was due yesterday on the 5th. Kris went to work at the school this morning and knew she wasn't feeling well at all (labor!!). She insisted on making a 9 a.m. interview with her maternity leave replacement whom she made walk the halls with her as they discussed the job. Kristy couldn't sit still she was in so much contracting pain! She called me at about 10:30 a.m. to say she was leaving school and that she thought "there's some action" going on. She planned to go to the dr. at 1 p.m. to get put on a monitor and make sure this was the real deal. At 11ish Aunt Robin called me to say that Kristy had changed her mind and was headed straight to the hospital. When I got there at 11:45 she had been admitted to the hospital and was already 7 cm. dialated and 100% effaced! They got her a quick epideral and checked her again...she was at 9 cm. Then at 1 p.m. they said she was a 10. Once she started pushing- she had 4 contractions and Landon was born- voila!!!!
I was not in the room but saw him shortly after!!! Oh...he's gorgeous! He has huge feet and the most perfectly round little head with light brown wavy hair. God is awesome and amazing. I look at what He has done in this couple's life and I marvel.
Today, I want to speak a blessing over Landon's life. He will grow up to be a mighty man of God and lead his grandparents and other family members to the Lord. He will be a bubbly, joyous little boy who glows of God's goodness. Kristy and Matt will continue to walk in the truth of the Lord and committ their parenting to the Lord.
Amen!
By the way..Kristy is doing perfect! She's such a trooper. But, if anyone knows Kris, they know that she's a strong, high-pain tolerance kind of gal. She and Matt have the "New Mommy and Daddy" special glow!
Thank you Jesus for Landon's safe arrival, please watch over and protect Him all the days of his life.

Rambling
Howdy,
Wasn't today absolutely gorgeous out? I'm getting spring fever and want to get this front yard graded and seeded. I want to clean out the flower beds and spruce things up. This year is going to be fun since we are on such a strict budget- but that's ok! I loved what Dave Ramsey said Wed night in FPU- happiness is NOTHING
you can buy. I love that! Fun is temporary, but happiness does not have a price and is free. So, i'm gonna be mightily happy this spring and summer looking at our normal, simple landscaping. I'm learning that the types of plants that multiply, spread and come up annually are quite a deal! I have a TON of "Live Forevers" and would be happy to give you all as many starts off of them as you'd like! Our entire front courtyard area has these.
My grandma had a great idea for us to put those along the west end of our home (which currently has nothing).
So, there is a nice free way to do some landscaping. I am going to pray for free mulch- yep! God can provide
even wood chips!!! Wait, I just remembered something. I think I planted some tulip bulbs along the west side last year. My neighbor brought them over and I went to town planting! Oh yes, that was the day that I decided to also transplant iris plants too... oh goodness! I have no idea exactly what I planted or where! Guess, this spring will be a nice surprise for me.
Upcoming project for the outdoors: clean out all the rotten wood from behind the shed so that we can plant a nice little garden. The coolest thing that I ever experienced as a kid, was exploring in a garden. I found the coolest, most gigantic caterpillar thingamabop that I've ever seen.
I love the spring and summertime and plan to really get moving around the neighborhood. I love to walk here in the peaceful atmosphere!
Ok..I need to hush!
love ya,
k
